Luis Garay

Luis is a Partner at Samaipata based in Madrid and focusing on the Southern European market. He holds a BSc in Mechanical Engineering and Business from MIT, and a MBA from The Wharton School.

Luis started his professional career at Citi in London as part of the Global Industries Group M&A team. He was introduced to early stage investing while working with José Marin (Founding Partner of FJ Labs), and has been investing as a Business Angel ever since. Luis has developed a portfolio of 38 angel investments over the last decade, spanning multiple industries. He also worked as CFO for two of his portfolio companies helping them successfully raise Seed and Series A rounds.

During his free time, Luis likes to enjoy an early morning round of golf, going to art exhibits, the movie theatre, or discovering one of the many new additions to Madrid’s gastronomic scene.
